Zangi servers have no user communications.

Incorrect timestamps on messages

If the timestamp displayed on your received messages or the last seen time of your contacts are incorrect, please check the time and time zone configuration on your phone. You might need to re-adjust them.

We recommend setting your date and time to Automatic or Network Provided. With this setting enabled, your mobile provider will set your phone to the correct time. If the incorrect time is displayed even with this setting enabled, then there might be an issue with your network. Please contact your mobile provider to address the issue.

As a workaround, please modify your date and time settings and correct your time zone manually.

Note: The time zone is different than the actual time. Make sure you select the correct time zone for your location.

Inviting friends

There’s multiple ways to invite your friends to Zangi:

Option 1) Go to your app Contacts → switch to All contacts → tap on a contact that doesn’t have a Zangi label next to their name → tap Invite to Zangi.

Option 2) Go to your app Contacts → Invite Friends → choose Invite by SMS or Send Invitation via… (iOS) or Share (Android) → choose the contacts you want to invite.

Option 3) Go to your app Settings → Invite Friends → choose Invite by SMS or Send Send Invitation via… (iOS) or Share (Android) → choose the contacts you want to invite.

VPN Step 1: Access the Internet in China

• Via Wi-Fi: In many major Chinese cities, you’ll find wi-fi access everywhere. As you get further inland, however, this becomes harder and harder to find. Relying on Wifi for all your internet access may not be ideal, especially since most wi-fi requires text message verification. You’ll need to have either a Chinese SIM card or global roaming from your home carrier in order to accept these text messages and access the free wi-fi. Learn more about how to find WiFi in China.
• Via International Roaming: If you’re traveling to China for a short period of time, you can work with your network carrier at home to arrange international roaming. Some carriers already offer free texting and limited international data while traveling, but not all of them. You’ll need to check to make sure. Rest assured that anything that isn’t covered by your plan will be quite expensive.
• Via a local SIM card: It’s not difficult for a foreigner to get a Chinese SIM card to access the internet via any unlocked phone. You’ll need your passport to register the number but monthly service can be unbelievably cheap. In some major airports (Beijing, Shanghai) you’ll find kiosks where you can purchase a SIM card. Otherwise, you’ll have to go to a China Unicom or China Mobile store to purchase. This option does take time, however, so it’s not ideal for the average traveler.

How do I know if I’m blocked?

There are a couple of indicators that you may be blocked:

What about Zangi Safe Messenger?

If you claim to be a secure messaging app some people will believe you while others will not trust you whatsoever. But in the case of Zangi messenger, it is not about trust but about real security. How do I sign out/sign in?

To sign out of your account go to: app Settings → Your Profile section → Sign Out. When signing out the app will ask you whether you want to: Keep History or Delete History.

Keep History means you would like the app to save your calls/messages (when you sign back into the same device).

Delete History means you would like the app to erase all your history on your account (when you sign back into the same device).

Keep History or Delete History works when you’re signing in to the same device you signed out of.

Using Different Device

There’s currently no option to transfer your chat history between platforms. So if you’re going to change your device, your history will be deleted either way. This may not be convenient for some users, we understand, but our severless system has been developed for ultimate security reasons. We prioritize security in all our decisions.

Signing into a different device

To use your account on a different device, you need to sign out of your current device. If you choose to sign in to the same account from another device, you will automatically be signed out of the 1st device (with your history saved).

My phone was stolen. What should I do?

First of all, sorry about your phone.

Good news: there are 3 ways to recover your account. Also you can contact us to delete your account in such cases. But common thieves usually throw out the SIM card immediately (the phone is harder to locate this way), then wipe the devices and sell them, so there isn’t much risk for the data in case of regular petty theft.

Bad news: Unfortunately, there’s currently no option to transfer your chat history between platforms. So if you’re going to sign in to your account from a different device, your history will be deleted either way. We have this measure for security reasons. How to recover your account:

• If you had already set a password before your phone was stolen, you can still recover your account. Download Zangi on a different device and enter in your password. When signing into your account on the new device, you’ll be logged out from the previous device.You can continue using your account, but your history, unfortunately, will be wiped out on the new device.

• If you were registered with phone number and you’ve forgotten or don’t have a password: first and foremost, contact your phone provider, so that they block your old SIM and issue a new one with your number. Wait till you receive your new SIM with the old number, and log in to Zangi. When signing into your account on the new device, you’ll be logged out from the previous device.You can continue using your account, but your history, unfortunately, will be wiped out on the new device.

• If your phone was stolen, you can contact us and we will consider deleting your account. To prove the account was yours, we will ask some questions — before we delete the account.
