1. Качество. Все работает быстро, четко, без запарок и тормозов. Имеется мониторинг потребляемых ресурсов. Посмотреть его можно зайдя в раздел «Настройки», затем в «Сведения о системе».
2. Работает на всех операционных системах. На всех ОС приложение работает одинаково, без малейших различий.
3. Удобен в управлении. Данным медиацентром вполне комфортно управлять с компьютера и с Android TV Box.

Если в Android управление осуществляется пультом ДУ, то в Windows используются следующие клавиши:

• Enter — выбор
• Стрелки — перемещение
• Esc — назад

Кроме клавиш плеером Kodi можно управлять либо мышью, либо при помощи приложения для смартфона «Remote for Kodi».

Add-ons

General: So far in version 16 there are no add-on changes that would impact any add-ons except for PVR. Since our 12.x Frodo release there have been some gradual changes but in general all add-ons, even from that time should still work, of course there are some exceptions. If the add-ons worked in Gotham, Helix and Isengard then we are happy to say that all these add-ons should still work.

Skins: Sadly due to the amount of changes we’ll have to announce that skins will have certain parts non working. This release will mark any version 15 skin (or earlier) as incompatible and will ask you to switch back to Confluence. This means that for you to continue using Kodi 16.0 you will have to switch back to Confluence or wait till the skin you use has been updated in our repository. Good new however is that a variety of skin have already start updating to latest changes.Available skins: The following skins are already updated for version 16 and will auto-update when you upgrade. We’re sure more will follow soon.

I tested this only very lightly but it improved playback smoothness and obviously reduced cpu load. ymmv.

2.2 Ubuntu

Note: The Ubuntu OS has a long-lasting NFS bug which prevents Kodi from playing files directly via its own internal NFS sources using an external video player. You will have to set up NFS mounts directly via the Ubuntu OS to have this work correctly.

There are cross-platform standalone video players which are supported by Kodi. Hereunder are two of them. The Full-screen option has been added, otherwise you will have a windowed video player.

Установка на Ubuntu 12.04

XBMC из ppa:aap/xbmc-release рекомендуется владельцам Intel HD, видеокарт AMD со свободным драйвером, а также Nvidia с проприетарным драйвером. Для его использования необходимо:

1. Сначала обновим libtag1-vanilla и libtag1c2a до версии >= 1.8. Откройте и выполните следующие команды:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:aapxbmc
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

2. Далее необходимо отключить добавленный ppa:aap/xbmc. Тут нам поможет Центр приложений Ubuntu. Открываем его, переходим в меню «Правка» → «Источники приложений». В открывшемся окне открываем вкладку «Другое ПО», ищем ppa:aap/xbmc и после этого снимаем галочку напротив него. Всё, репозиторий отключен.

Обновим список пакетов командой

sudo apt-get update

в .

3. Теперь можно установить XBMC. Откройте и выполните следующие команды:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:aapxbmc-release
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install xbmc

Владельцам видеокарт AMD с проприетарным драйвером рекомендуется использовать XBMC из ppa:aap/xbmc-release-fernetmenta. Для его использования выполните в следующие команды (после выполнения описанных выше 1 и 2 пунктов инструкции):

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:aapxbmc-release-fernetmenta
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install xbmc

Как установить плагины?

Есть два типа дополнений:

1. Официальные. Они одобрены командой Kodi, их можно установить за пару кликов из встроенного репозитория.
2. Пользовательские (сторонние). Создаются разработчиками-энтузиастами, которые тратят своё время и усилия ради удобства других пользователей.

Чтобы установить сторонний плагин, загрузите репозиторий с нужным дополнением. Вернитесь на один абзац выше, если вы не понимаете, о чём идёт речь.

После успешной настройки репозитория повторите эти шаги:

Вернитесь на один шаг назад и откройте раздел, который располагается повыше — «Установить из репозитория».

Выберите свежеустановленный репозиторий.

Например, так выглядит часть видеодополнений в XBMC репозитории.

Нажмите на любой из них и установите его.

Приложение появится на главной странице в разделе Дополнения.

Установка Kodi, настройка IPTV

В первую очередь после установки Вы захотите изменить английский язык на русский. Сделать это легко и быстро:

Откройте «Настройки (значок шестерёнки в верхнем левом углу)» после выберите пункт «Interface setting», в левом меню выберите вкладку «Regional». Перед вами будет первая строка «Language» в которой необходимо выбрать «Russian».

По большему счету больше ничего настраивать не нужно, но, если Вы опытный пользователь можете подогнать всё под себя.

Включаем IPTV, добавляем плейлист и EPG

Интерфейс теперь на русском, осталось дело за малым. Чтоб в меню на вкладке ТВ появилось IPTV:

1. Вернитесь на главный экран и откройте вкладку ТВ. После этого нажмите на «Вход в браузер дополнений».
2. Найдите в списке «PVR ITV Simple Client» и откройте его.
3. После открытия нажмите на кнопку «Включить» затем на кнопку «Настройки».
4. Первая вкладка открытого окна «Основные». Тут вам необходимо ввести адрес m3u плейлиста.
5. Теперь в левом меню перейдите на вкладку «Установки EPG». Введите ссылку на ГИД в формате XML.
6. В левом меню «Логотипы каналов». Откройте и введите ту же ссылку, что в предыдущем пункте.
7. Выйдите из настроек и перезагрузите Kodi.

Готово! После перезагрузки приложения необходимо подождать буквально минутку, пока импортируется плейлист, программа передач и логотипы каналов. Теперь открыв вкладку «ТВ» Вы можете насладится комфортным просмотром IPTV.

Настройка оболочки XBMC

Программа XBMC имеет поддержку русского языка. После первого запуска программы пройдите в меню System — Appearance — International — Language и выберите Russian, здесь же измените кодировку на Cirillic (Windows) (это необходимо для корректной работы некоторых русскоязычных дополнений). Интегрированная по умолчанию тема Confluence отлично взаимодействует с различными языками, однако далеко не все скины сторонних разработчиков для изменения интерфейса поддерживают кириллицу. Далее следует указать свое местоположение для правильного отображения данных о погоде. Для этого необходимо перейти в меню Система — Погода — Общие и добавить свой город. Также можно настроить бегущую строку встроенного RSS-ридера: откройте Система — Внешний вид — Обложка — Включить RSS-новости и укажите источник.

Event Logging

The first big step in making Kodi better at communicating with you, the user, is the addition of event logging. With this feature you always have a constantly updating list of all the most important things Kodi has done recently, along with little issues you can fix. For example, when you scan in a library for the first time, the Event Logger will provide you with a list of videos that didn’t quite make it into the library, each one of which is clickable, so you can go straight to the offending video and fix it personally.

You’ll also get a constant list of all recently updated add-ons, so if a recent update breaks, you’ll know the update happened and can then easily rollback.

Official remotes

In addition to creating Kodi, the members of Team Kodi have created official remotes to be installed on your tablet or phone. These can take control of your Kodi installation from where you browse your movies, tvshows, PVR/DVR, start add-ons and navigate through the interface.

Like Kodi itself, both official remotes are free and open source software.

Donations or getting involved

Getting involved is quite easy. Simply take the plunge and start using these 16.0 Jarvis builds. If you use these builds, we encourage you to report problems with these builds on our forum first and after that, if asked, submit bugs on Trac (following this guide: How to submit a bug report). Do note that we need detailed information so we can investigate the issue. We also appreciate providing support in our Forums where you can. You can of course also follow or help promote Kodi on all available social networks. Read more on the get involved page. DirectX 11 upgrade

Developer afedchin has gone through the long and arduous process of updating Kodi to DirectX 11, which brings with it support for modern tools and modern graphics cards, while maintaining backwards compatibility with old DirectX 9 cards. This major shift will help Kodi for Windows stay up to date for a long time to come.

Android Surface Rendering

Some newer devices that can do UHD or 4K playback lack the power to also create the Kodi interface at a 4K resolution, and this creates a problem. We have been forced either to downscale the video to a lower resolution to make sure the interface was snappy, or show full size video but the device might not be able handle the high resolution interface. We’ve now altered the way we display Kodi on Android. The video is always displayed on one Android surface while the UI is  displayed on a second Android surface. This allows Kodi to display its skin at its native resolution (typically 720p), while simultaneously displaying 4K video on the same screen.

It is important to mention is that this doesn’t apply to AMLogic devices with proper permissions as these will still use amcodec. Any other Android device that is not able to do “android surface rendering” has not implemented the standard Android MediaCodec API in the proper way and will need to be upgraded on the Android-side to support the new feature.
