To Install Dependency Library

Fedora users Click Here to install the dependency library files.

Now copy / move the tar file to opt directory, use the following command to copy the file to opt directory. Type the password for the user when prompted. Then extract it.

sudo cp utorrent-server-3.0-25053.tar.gz /opt/

Now move to the opt directory to extract the tar file. Run the following commands one by one.

cd /opt/

sudo tar -xvf utorrent-server-3.0-25053.tar.gz

After extracting the tar file remove it.

sudo rm -rf utorrent-server-3.0-25053.tar.gz

Change the permission of the extracted folder.

sudo chmod 777 -R utorrent-server-v3_0/

Create a symbolic link so that you can run the torrent server from terminal.

sudo ln -s /opt/utorrent-server-v3_0/utserver /usr/bin/utserver

That’s it. Now you can start the utorrent server by using the following command in terminal.

utserver -settingspath /opt/utorrent-server-v3_0/ &

qBittorrent

qBittorrent’s early goal was to provide a uTorrent-like client for Linux, because that proprietary piece of software did not provide any support for the free desktop at the time. Since uTorrent is the most popular torrent client outside of China, many people will find qBittorrent’s interface familiar.

The qBittorrent developers have also taken on the task of replicating the kind of feature set people accustomed to uTorrent have come to expect. Luckily, it’s possible to set up uTorrent server to run in the background, with the help of a simple script. To set up the script, open up a terminal and follow the instructions below.

First, add the Shebang to the autostart program. Adding a Shebang allows Bash and the terminal to understand what to do with the script when run.

Use the echo command to add the automatic start command to the startup script.
